Duet

Our relationship exists

In the paradox

Of the struggle to disentangle

In order to come closer together.

Intersecting planes

Of reality

Ill comprehended by emotional minds.

We stomp all over our intimate enclosures

With clod-hopper shoes

Fueling the furnace of resentment.

Only clarity of the goal

Brings a real glimpse

Of the ideal.

Egos fight a battle for supremacy

With intellectual swords

And emotional A-bombs.

We play and replay

The combinations of each other’s vulnerability

Like the hand on the buttons of an accordian.

Only Divine Blessings

Brings Peace and Healing

From the pain of the realization

Of our true loneliness.

We play our score

For a duet

That is invisible

To us.
